Learning to Teach Arm Balances and Inversions

The focus of this 3-day training is FUN! Yoga for Advanced Poses and Sequencing will physically and mentally challenge you while asking you to get out of your comfort zone and try something new – with a regular asana practice you may be surprised what you are capable of. Learning these advanced postures will remind us what it feels like to be a new student again, sharpening our teaching skills for our general vinyasa style classes.

This training is included in the 300-hour YTT certificate, to become a certified 500-hour Yoga Teacher.  

Within this training module we will explore how to build up to these powerful postures using prep poses, counter poses and plenty of options for all our students.

What you will learn: 

  • Binds including: Bound Side Angle and Bird of Paradise.
  • Arm Balances including: Crow Pose, Side Crow, Firefly, Flying Pigeon and Peacock.
  • Inversions including: Headstand, Handstand, Forearm Balance and Scorpion.
  • Spinal Extensions including: Wheel and Wild Thing.
  • Hip Openers including: Standing Half Lotus, Double Pigeon and Lotus Pose.
  • Sequencing for advanced postures including options for all students.

Required Reading:

  • Yoga for Advanced Poses + Sequencing Training Manual (provided on the first day of training)


  • 200-hour YTT certificate +/or Yoga in Practice
  • Established Yoga Asana practice
Yoga for Advanced Poses + Sequencing

Training hours run 9am – 5pm each day with a 30min. break for lunch.

Each day will open and close with meditation, followed by a master class and then workshopping various postures and breaking them down together through the rest of the day. Time will also be spent building themed sequences. A final assignment will be given in order to receive your certificate of completion.

Yoga for Advanced Poses and Sequencing can be taken on its own, or can be included as 22.5-hours towards your 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate. Within the 300-hour YTT track, training modules can be taken in any order.

22.5 Yoga Alliance CECs available upon completion of this course for current Yoga Teachers already registered with Yoga Alliance.
